Laraine Hopper passed away on May
22, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on
October 24, 1940, in Oakland,
California, to Stanley Little and Bernice Stafford.
Laraine was preceded in death by
her husband, Tom Hopper. She is survived by her
children: Elizabeth “Liz” Hopper,
Terri Hopper, Mike Hopper, and Sherri Hopper.
Her grandchildren are Paul Galvin,
Theresa Galvan, Tyler Hopper, Courtni Hopper, Neil
Hopper, and Chad Rockwell. Her
great-grandchildren are Thomas Galvan, Liz-e
Galvan, and Desmond Hopper.
In 1963, Tom and Laraine moved
north from Oakland, California, to Crescent City.
Throughout her life, Laraine was
active in a wide range of community and fraternal
organizations. She participated in
Job’s Daughters, the Order of the Eastern Star, and
the Emblem Club. She also traveled
throughout California alongside her husband as he
carried out his duties as District
Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler for the Northwest District.
Laraine worked as a teacher’s aide
at Joe Hamilton Elementary School and spent many
years with McPherren’s Tax Service.
She concluded her career by managing the books
for the Crescent City Elks Lodge.
Laraine and her family shared a
love of travel and the outdoors. They enjoyed camping
together at Panther Flat, along the
Rogue River, and at Loeb State Park. Their
adventures also took them farther
afield, including memorable trips to Hawaii, Alaska,
and the Panama Canal.
