George Wilson, born April 29, 1951, passed away peacefully
at home June 13, 2026, will be remembered for his strong work ethic, gift for
conversation, sense of humor, and willingness to share his knowledge, time, and
resources. He made his own path through life, leaving an indelible mark in the
things he built and the people who knew him.
A skilled welder, George loved to make things and took pride in doing a job
well. He brought strength, care, and determination to his work. Dependable and
hardworking, he also found satisfaction in teaching others. Whether sharing the
skills of his trade or showing someone how to do something new, George gave his
knowledge generously. A saying he enjoyed captured both his pride and his
humor: “God created welders because engineers needed a hero.”
George was a man of many words whose eagerness in conversation, his charm, and
sometimes booming voice could command a room. His family remembers him as a man
capable of holding someone close and turning tears into laughter. They also
remember his fierce loyalty and protective instinct, which could be formidable
and leave a person who challenged either shaking in their boots. In his later
years, he never failed to offer a warm welcome and time for stories,
conversation, and reflection.
He had a soft spot for animals and enjoyed family traditions, including the
pleasure of opening just one present early on Christmas Eve. These small,
familiar moments hold a special place in his family’s memories.
Faith and gratitude were also part of George’s outlook. As he grew older, he
shared reflections on appreciating life’s simple blessings and treasuring time
with loved ones. In a message shared on May 25, 2026, he wrote, “I’m thankful
for every blessing He’s given me. Amen.”
George leaves a legacy in the work he completed, the skills he passed along,
and the memories his family and friends carry. His voice, laughter, and
presence will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilee Wilson. His son Byron Wilson
and wife Amanda, daughter Annie Chavez and husband Blake, daughter Emma Brunner
and husband Mikel. Along with grandchildren Colt, Lily, Arlo, and Hoyt, and
many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
