With
heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Walter Everette Messal, a beloved
husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who went to be with Jesus
on July 7, 2025, in Crescent City, California. Born on May 26, 1931,
in Chehalis Washington. Walter was the youngest of ten children born to
Herman and Adeline Messal. Walter was preceded in death by his cherished
wife, Norma Messal, and eight of his siblings. In 1965, Walter made the
move to Crescent City, where he found the love of his life, Norma. Their
marriage was one of deep affection and mutual respect. Walter often spoke
about how fortunate he felt to have Norma by his side. Walter proudly
served in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he
ventured into various careers, including being a truck driver and
later, alongside Norma, owning and operating several motels
in Crescent City and Oregon, the Sunset House Antiques and most
recently the Village Of Gasquet Antiques. Described as a kind and
considerate man, Walter had an unwavering love for his family. He is
survived by his son, Cory Messal, and daughter-in-law Mary, his son David
Thompson and daughter-in-law April and his grandsons Troy Messal
and Zachary Whitehead. In honoring his memory, we take comfort in knowing
that he is reunited with his beloved wife, Norma, and the siblings he
cherished. No service is planned as per Walter's wishes.
