Denise Ellen Carter was born
on July 26, 1952 in Richmond California to Harlan Lee Carter and Ellen
Elizabeth (Pettinger) Carter. Denise was the third child of five.
Her father, Harlan Carter traveled frequently as he worked in construction, amongst
other jobs. This caused the family to move often. When Denise finished 5th grade, her family settled
in Orland, California. This is where she met Julius Vogt who lived a ¼
mile down the road, as they rode the same school bus. Shortly after
graduating from High School Denise and Julius got married on October 04, 1970.
Denise and Julius would move
around as Julius went from working a Dairy to serving in the Military and
eventually working in Law Enforcement. Denise would work odd jobs at the
Bank, Flower Shop, and ultimately the Imperial Irrigation District.
In 2002 Denise and Julius
settled in Smith River, California and became members of Star of the Sea
Catholic Church. Julius joined the Knights of Columbus and Denise began
helping in the Office after Julius’s death in February of 2024.
Denise and Julius had three
children. Randy, Tyann, and Fayanne. They were the proud
grandparents of nine grandchildren, Summer, Jake, Keelee, Sunnie, Aspin, Ian,
Craven, Tobias, and Colby. They also had three great grandchildren,
Brynly, Brenton, and Azriel. With a fourth one on the way.
Denise is proceeded in death
by her husband Julius, brother Clayton, her sister Valerie, and her parents
Harlan and Ellen.
We thank you for joining us
